Bulk Updates

When the DPS user needs to manage hundreds or even thousands of connected products, the ability to perform bulk updates saves a lot of time during maintenance or setup operations.
For example, if you want to update the firmware on all products of a certain model, or if you want to execute a command on all machines belonging to a specific customer.

In the DPS, it is possible to perform these bulk operations:

  • Firmware Update: a firmware update request is sent to a set of things.

  • Command Execution: a command execution request is sent to a set of  things.

  • Recipe Update: a recipe can be sent to a set of things.

  • Tagging: multiple things can be tagged.

  • Deletion: multiple items can be deleted upon a strong confirmation.
This operation is available only on Thing List or Customer List widgets.

In the DPS, users who have visibility on multiple things can take advantage of specific widgets that support bulk updates.

  • Thing List, which allows selecting multiple things and executing bulk updates.

  • Map, which allows selecting multiple markers (things) and executing bulk updates.

A bulk update may take a long time to complete, so the DPS user can also define when the bulk update must be executed (immediately or schedule a date).

The DPS user can monitor the execution of bulk updates through the Bulk Update Status widget, and if needed.
