For example, a sensor could measure the temperature of the location, and send the value to the cloud, to be then used by the things installed in the location itself. Currently, in order to define a simple location metric, it is necessary to configure an external data source from which to retrieve the data to be saved. Location metrics are supplied by external services, so defining a location metric requires enabling and configuring a plugin that supports location metrics data provisioning. The plugins providing location metrics data are: - [Open Weather Map](/docs/open-weather-map) # Creating a Location metric To add a new *Metric* to a *Location*, you should: 1. Ensure to have activated and configure a plugin providing location metric data. 2. Enter the *RAW Data* page. 3. Select the *Location* tab. 4. Press the *Add Metric* button. 5. Select the *Metric* type and provide the required information. 6. Press the Save button and edit the additional information, if needed. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/6759e9c9-3ce3-49df-965a-7231d2d9a10a/Images/Documentation/image(80).png) # Editing a Location metric Once created, a location simple metric requires configuring which data from the remote data source must be retrieved. The way the metric is configured depends on the selected data source; for more details, refer to one of the following plugins: - [Open Weather Map](/docs/open-weather-map) ## Data In case of numeric metrics, the Data Type allows you to define whether the metric values are *DISCRETE* or *CONTINUOUS*, and then you can also define [Dictionary and Thresholds](/docs/dictionary-and-thresholds-1). ## Range In case the metric is of type numeric, in this section, you can specify the minimum and maximum values the metric can assume.
