It is strongly discouraged to store in each client (e.g. thing) or let each client directly access the main IoT Connector configuration (e.g. credentials, certificates, endpoints). > > It is enough for one client to be hacked to allow the hacker to read data from all clients or, even worse, to send malicious messages (e.g. commands) to other connected clients. > > The configuration of the main IoT Connector must be kept secret from the single cloud client. ## Configuring the IoT Connector In order to configure a IoT Connector, you should: 1. Enter the *Integrations / IoT Connector page.* 2. Select the IoT Connector from the enabled ones. 3. Provide the required properties to configure the connection (e.g. credentials, endpoints). ![](https://cdn.document360.io/6759e9c9-3ce3-49df-965a-7231d2d9a10a/Images/Documentation/image(343).png) By default, you can leverage the STC connector, but optionally you can enable others within the [*Integrations / Plugins*](/docs/plugins) page. In the DPS, depending on the IoT Connector selected, you need to specify additional [mapping information](/docs/thing-connection-mapping) for each thing you want to connect.
